Celebrating Partnership Working in Pendle Event
Join me in walking the Pendle Way
Pendle people are invited to walk the picturesque Pendle Way with me Coun Allan Buck.
Throughout the summer months, he will walk eight sections of the Pendle Way, on different Tuesdays, starting at 1pm.
We have such beautiful and rich countryside right here on our doorsteps and I'd be delighted for as many people as possible to join me in exploring some of it. The whole family is welcome to come on the walks - including dogs, provided they are kept on a lead across farmland and under close control at all other times. I'm sure that everyone who joins in will have a great time.
The walks will take place as follows:
* 17th July - Section one: Barrowford to Barnoldswick (7 miles) starting from Pendle Heritage Centre was completed succesfully.
* 24th July - Section two: Barnoldswick to Earby (5.5 miles) starting from Bancroft Mill.
* 31st July - Section three: Earby to Laneshawbridge (7 miles) starting from the museum of Yorkshire Dales Leadmining .
* 7th August - Section four: Laneshawbridge to Wycoller to Coldwell Activity Centre (formerly Coldwell Inn) (6.5 miles) starting from the Emmott Arms.
* 14th August - Section five: Coldwell Activity Centre to Reedley (4.5 miles) starting from the Coldwell Activity Centre.
* 21st August - Section six: Reedley to Higham to Newchurch (6 miles) starting from the junction of Reedley Road and Robinson Lane .
* 28th August - Section seven: Newchurch to Pendle Hill to Barley (5 miles) starting from the centre of Newchurch.
* 11th September - Section eight: Barley to Barrowford (3.5 miles) starting from the Barley Information Centre.
We will be following the route shown in Pendle Council's "Pendle Way" pack, which can be bought from Barnoldswick Tourist Information Centre (01282 666704), Pendle Tourist Information Centre (01282 661701) and Nelson Town Hall (01282 661655).
Please come well prepared as some parts of the walk may be muddy - and don't forget your waterproof clothing. I'm hoping we've seen the last of the rain for the summer, but if the weather is bad, please phone me on 07966245956 to check if the walk is going ahead.

Royal Garden Party
Here is a picture of the Mayoress, Councillor Linda Crossley and myself on the Mall outside Buckingham Palace on our way to the Royal Garden Party on Tuesday, 10th July. The cucumber sandwiches were excellent! On the previous day we had called on Lord Greaves at the House of Lords in the afternoon and in the evening went back to the House of Commons for dinner with our MP Gordon Prentice.
